European Qualifying
In total 13 European nations will qualify for the 2010 football World Cup in South Africa. It was announced that there would be eight groups of six teams and one group of five teams. The winners of each group will qualify automatically with the eight best runners up playing home and away play-off matches to determine the other four places. The 8 best runners up will be judged on the perfermances against the top team and 3 teams below them. In effect the groups with 6 teams will see the games against the bottom teams ignored. |
